Huizhong Chen is a Ph.D candidate in the Electrical Engineering Department of Stanford University, California. He received the B.A. and M.Eng. degrees in 2008 and 2009, both from the Department of Engineering, University of Cambridge, UK, with emphasis on Electrical and Information Sciences. His research interests are Computer Vision and Multimedia Systems. He worked on multiple research projects during graduate studies, including multidimensional data registration, object recognition and attribute learning, and multi-modal information retrieval. Huizhong is the recipient of the Kodak Fellowship, the Gibbons Fellowship, Sir Ian McFarlane Award, and a current Brown Fellow with the David and Helen Gurley Brown Institute for Media Innovation.

Established in 2012, the Institute is a collaboration between Columbia and Stanford Universities. Our mission is simple: Sponsor thinking, building and speculating on how stories are discovered and told in a networked, digitized world.
