Jeanna Matthews

Jeanna Matthews is an associate professor of computer science at Clarkson University in Potsdam NY and an affiliate at Data and Society in Manhattan. A polymath at heart, she does work across a wide range of disciplines from computer security to social media analysis to poetry. The majority of her current work focuses on supporting the rights of individuals in a world of surveillance, automation and algorithmic decision making. She is a member of the Association for Computing Machinery (ACM) Council, a founding co-chair of their US-ACM subcommittee on algorithmic transparency and accountability and an ACM Distinguished Speaker.
