Diane Chang is a journalist-turned-product manager with a decade of experience building products that empower people, media businesses, and social platforms to be active and sustainable participants in strengthening our civic fabric. Diane was most recently Head of Product for Risk & Evaluation at Cohere, a Canada-founded frontier AI company developing foundational Large Language Models for global enterprises. She will be joining Google in March as Senior Product Manager for Gemini Enterprise. Previously, Diane founded Invisible Fabric, a consultancy on innovative technology with broad societal impacts; led Meta’s civic integrity product teams; and built news recommendation and discovery products at Flipboard. Diane is a fellow at Emergence Circle, developing real-world solutions that strengthens Tribal sovereignty by applying Seven Generations Thinking to AI; and a Senior Fellow at Tech Global Institute, a nonprofit that promotes digital rights in the Global South.
Diane shifted careers to tech after working as a news producer at NBC News, Bill Moyers Journal on PBS, and as a reporter at the Taipei Times in Taipei, Taiwan. She holds a Master’s in Public Policy from Harvard University and a Bachelor of Arts in anthropology from Columbia University.
