Caleb Ziems

Caleb is a PhD student in the NLP Group at Stanford University, where he is fortunate to be advised by Prof. Diyi Yang. He is interested in building socially-competent and equitable NLP systems that are more aware of social norms and robust to language variation. His work also supports safety in online communities. His work received an ACL Outstanding Paper Award in 2022, and an Honorable Mention for Best Paper from ICWSM in 2020. Since 2021, he has been supported by the NSF GRFP. In the past, he has enjoyed summer research internships at Meta AI and USC ISI. Previously, Caleb finished his M.S. in Computer Science from Georgia Tech and his B.S. with a double major in Computer Science and Mathematics from Emory University.
