Welcome Tanya Chawla, Our New Program Manager

We’re thrilled to announce that Tanya Chawla has joined the Brown Institute at Columbia Journalism School as our new Program Manager.

The Program Manager role sits at the heart of the Brown Institute, providing operational support across our grants and fellowships, workshops and conferences, and communications efforts. It’s a position that requires someone who can work closely with our grantees, faculty, students, and partners across Columbia and beyond, all while keeping a fast-moving, mission-driven team on track. We knew we needed someone who could match the ambition and range of the work we do here, and we found that in Tanya.

Tanya comes to us from Terrestrials, a science podcast from New York Public Radio, where she worked as an audio producer. She has also spent time at The Washington Post and Radiolab, giving her firsthand experience with the kind of boundary-pushing journalism the Brown Institute exists to support. She holds a B.A. in Data Science from the University of California, Berkeley.

Please join us in welcoming Tanya to the Brown Institute.
