Sanshey Biswas

Sanshey Biswas, co-founder of InOldNews, has been working as a reporter, editor, producer and journalism consultant for over 10 years. Every year, he gets to meet and work with dozens of journalists — working independently or in newsrooms around the word. Since 2017 he has helped leading media organizations build their multimedia capacity using phones and emerging technologies like AI. He started his career in print journalism at a weekly newspaper before adding digital publishing, social media strategy and video operations to his areas of expertise. His desire to seek out new puzzles in the evolving media landscape means he’s constantly learning news skills and taking on new challenges. He now runs InOldNews — with his partner Manon Verchot — a media company they started to make learning digital skills more accessible to working journalists. In 2024, InOldNews received a Magic Grant from the Brown Institute at Columbia University for their latest project, Open Journalism Network. The Open Journalism Network is a library of Creative Commons footage that is increasing representation and inclusion in the media by working with local journalists. When he’s not working on developing trainings or resources, Sanshey continues to report and produce journalistic stories.
