Manon Verchot is a French-American multimedia journalist and the co-founder of InOldNews, a media company that provides learning resources and technical assistance to journalists. Previously, Manon headed the video operations at publications like Mongabay, Hindustan Times and Mint. Her work required her to coordinate with teams spread out across continents, manage budgets and oversee the publishing of hundreds of videos a year. Through her career, Manon has worked as a reporter, manager, trainer, producer, and editor. As an editor and trainer, Manon has worked with thousands of journalists and content creators from over 40 countries to help them with video, photography, AI and audio projects. Her current work focuses on lowering the barrier of entry into journalism and increasing representation in media. As part of these efforts she has co-created free online courses and is building a library of Creative Commons footage under the Open Journalism Network project. This project received a Magic Grant from the Brown Institute at Columbia University in 2024. In addition to her work running InOldNews, Manon continues to report on stories. She has a special interest in the intersection between environment, technology and society.
