Giuseppe Laera (1992) is an Italian photographer with a strong passion for visual anthropology. He graduated in Communication, Languages and Cultures with a thesis on the power of images and their ability to convey emotions and create empathy with the public. After graduating, he decided to devote himself to photography as a narrative medium.
A particular sensitivity led him to investigate current social issues related to pollution, integration and gender identity. Originally from southern Italy, he has focused his work on the environmental disasters of this region, such as the construction of the Trans Adriatic Pipeline (TAP), which claims to solve Europe’s energy problems by using a fossil source from an undemocratic country, and on the reclamation of the land and the farmers who carefully work their land, harvesting and pruning in connection with the natural agricultural cycle. He also develops projects related to historical memory, especially in rural areas and religious life. He currently lives and works in Milan.
